DuPage County Land Records Search

The DuPage County Recorder of Deeds is at 421 N. County Farm Road in Wheaton. This is the main office for land records in the county. Phone is 630-407-5400. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The office keeps deeds, mortgages, liens, plats, and other real estate documents. You can search by name for documents from 1961 to the present. PIN searches go back to 1985. Address searches start from 1995. The search is free. Just pick one field, type your info, and hit search. DuPage Residents Directory Recording Fees

Recording fees in DuPage County changed on October 1, 2024. If you need to file a deed, mortgage, or other real estate document, the cost is $99. Non-real estate documents run $80. Plats cost $127 to record. These are set by state and county law and apply to all filings at the DuPage County Recorder's office. Under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140/), you can request copies of most public records. The first 50 pages of black and white copies are free under FOIA. After that, the county can charge 15 cents a page.

Copies of recorded documents cost $0.50 per page. A certified copy adds $5 per document. DD214 recording is free for veterans. The office takes Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and UnionPay cards. You can also pay by check, money order, cash, or ACH. Credit card payments have a fee: 2.75% for transactions over $60, or a flat $2 for anything under $60. Checks should be made out to "DuPage County Recorder." No starter checks are accepted in DuPage County.

The first page costs $2. Pages 2 through 20 are $0.50 each. Anything past page 20 drops to $0.25 per page. So a 25-page document would run about $14.25 total. These fees are set by state statute, and the circuit clerk's office cannot waive them.

Most court records in DuPage County are open to the public. The Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140/) says that each public body must make records available for inspection or copying. DuPage County Vital Records Directory

The DuPage County Clerk handles vital records. The office is at 421 N. County Farm Road in Wheaton, the same building as the recorder. Call 630-407-5500 for vital records questions. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. This office issues birth, death, and marriage certificates for events that took place in DuPage County. It is a key part of the DuPage County residents directory for anyone who needs a copy of these personal records.

Birth certificates cost $14 for the first copy. Each additional copy in the same order is just $2. Death certificates are $20 for the first and $10 for each extra. Marriage certificates run $14 for the first copy with $2 for additional ones. If you order through VitalChek online, add $10 to the total. The Vital Records Act (410 ILCS 535/) sets the rules for who can get certified copies in Illinois. Birth records stay confidential for 75 years. Death records are restricted for 20 years. Only certain people, like immediate family and legal representatives, can get certified copies during those periods.

For birth and death records before January 1916, you have to go through the county clerk since the Illinois Department of Public Health only has state records from that date forward. DuPage County has older records on file at the clerk's office.

DuPage County Marriage License Info

A marriage license in DuPage County costs $35. Both people must show up in person at the county clerk's office. You cannot send someone else to apply for you. The license is good for 60 days after it is issued. There is a one-day waiting period in Illinois, so you cannot use the license until the day after you get it. The county clerk at 421 N.
